OUR STORY
In 2004, David Munro purchased a neglected cattle farm south of Calgary and launched what would become Highfield Stock Farm. Driven by his family’s lifelong passion for Thoroughbreds, he brought the farm to life—transforming it into a world-class breeding and training operation. Over the years, our team has produced numerous Alberta champions and earned a reputation as one of the region’s most beautiful and successful equine facilities.

A premier thoroughbred horse breeder located in the picturesque countryside near Okotoks, Alberta, Highfield Stock Farm is one of Western Canada’s premier equestrian operations.
With a primary focus on thoroughbred horse breeding, we are one of the leading consignors in Alberta, and we also represent many clients throughout the province. Currently we’re proud to showcase our leading stallion, Tapiture, offering breeders an elite, high-calibre bloodline eight here in Alberta.
At Highfield Stock Farm, we also offer quality care for mares, foals, training horses, and rehabilitation of injured horses. Our 1000-acre farm features the finest equine facility consisting of irrigated pastures, individual paddocks, and a state-of-the-art breeding complex. We have a team of professionals on-site led by Farm Manager Jennifer Buck, providing expert care and management.
We are proud to have been named the Leading Breeder of Alberta-Bred Runners by Earnings in 2016, 2015, 2013, and 2010. Our 2016 earnings also surpassed top earning breeders in B.C., Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. In addition, in 2016 we were the recipient of the TOBA Canadian Breeder of the Year Award.
In addition to our thoroughbred breeding and boarding activities, Highfield boasts a strong racing stable and partners with horses racing all across North America and a select few in Europe.
